Job Description


MERQ (Monitoring Evaluation, Research and Quality Service) is a consulting firm established by a team of qualified professional experts with extensive experience in areas of public health, monitoring and evaluation, research, organizational capacity assessment, situational analysis, survey, health informatics, database design, data analysis and interpretation, development of guidelines, SOPs and manuals, as well as event organization.

MERQ has a working relationship with local and international partners including the RHB, local universities, EPHI, Options, international universities, and others. We work in partnership with an experienced and capable travel and car rental agency for our logistics needs, a laboratory service giant in Ethiopia for specimen transportation and lab services, and have an excellent working relationship with all Regional Health Bureaus and other National & Regional offices.

We are seeking to hire an experienced highly motivated driver to be based in Addis Ababa.


The Driver reports directly to the Senior Finance Officer. The main responsibility of the Driver is to provide safe transport services to passengers as required by adhering to safety rules and regulations.


  • Provides driving services to staff and other passengers between locations as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Conducts daily checks of the assigned vehicle for proper levels of fuel, motor oil, tire pressure, brakes and water level.
  • Performs minor maintenance when necessary.
  • Presents car in a clean and tidy manner, washing it when required.
  • Maintains mileage log book and schedules regular maintenance service with approval from supervisor.
  • Keeps all vehicle documents including vehicle registration, insurance, road tax, parking fees, road licenses and others, updated at all times.
  • Stocks essential vehicle supplies such as first aid kit and necessary spare parts ready at all times.
  • Undertakes errands to and/or from vendors, suppliers and banks as requested by supervisor.
  • Reports incidents and necessary repairs to supervisor and authorities according to existing operating procedure.

Contract Duration:

  • Six Months with possible extension based on performance and budget availability

Job Requirements



  • High school certificate or vocational school diploma
  • A valid driving license
  • 3 years’ experience as a driver (carrying passengers) with a recognized organization.


  • Ability to follow a pre-set schedule and create a plan to reach the required destination on time
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with people from varied backgrounds and cultures at all levels in organization
  • Ability to work as par

  • Skilled in minor car repair
  • Fluency in local language. Basic reading, writing and speaking in English
